Dr. Muataz Ali Atieh

Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), Qatar

Muataz Ali Atieh is a senior scientist at Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI). He was an Associate Professor at Chemical Engineering Department, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). He received his Ph.D in Chemical Engineering from University Putra Malaysia in 2005. His research focuses on design and fabrication of different types of CVD reactors for production of micro and nano materials for different applications. He produced different materials from Nanostructure materials such as Carbon Nanotubes, Carbon Nanofibers, Nanocatalyst and Graphen to Microstructure materials such as Activated Carbon, Vapor grown carbon fiber, inorganic and organic membranes. Currently he is working in different applications such as water treatment, water desalination, water disinfection, organic and inorganic membrane synthesis, nanofluid, nanocomposite, nanocatalyst, polymerization, nanosensors.

Dr. Atieh was the head of nanoscience and nanotechnology research group at International Islamic University Malaysia and the head of nano carbon research unit under chemical engineering department at KFUPM. He was led P.I and Co.I in 20 funded projects. He is the author of over 55 peer-reviewed publications, 50 conference papers, holds four USA patents and 12 filed. In 2013, he was awarded an Excellent Research award at KFUPM.
