Dr. Maguy Abi Jaoude

Khalifa University of Science and Technology – Abu Dhabi, UAE

Dr. Maguy Abi Jaoude acquired her PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry in 2011, from the University of Claude Bernard - Lyon 1. In 2012, she held an adjunct chemistry instructor position at the same institution, and later joined Khalifa University of Science and Technology (KU) in Abu Dhabi, in 2013, as Assistant Professor of Chemistry. Through her latest appointment, she has served on various academic program development committees and was recently presented with the 2018 Faculty Service Excellence award. She is currently a member at the Center for Membrane and Advanced Water Technologies (CMAT), and the Center for Catalysis and Separation (CeCaS) at KU.

Her research interests encompass the areas of materials chemistry and separation sciences, where she focuses on the development of sol-gel and hydrothermal methods, to produce exotic and hierarchically structured oxides of rare-earth and transition elements. She is particularly interested in establishing an understanding of the structure-property relationships of advanced materials, in application to the purification of air and water by heterogeneous photocatalysis, as well as the separation of environmental mixtures.
