Prof. Zhongfan Liu

Peking University, China

Zhongfan Liu is professor of School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering of Peking University, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Third World Academy of Sciences. He graduated from Changchun University of Technology in 1983 and studied in Japan in 1984. He received the doctoral degree from University of Tokyo in 1990 and worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the National Institute of Molecular Sciences in Japan in 1991-1993. Then he joined Peking University and was promoted to Professor.

Prof. Liu has devoted to the study of nano carbon materials, two-dimensional atomic crystal materials and nano chemistry research, he has published more than 480 academic papers and was authorized 28 national invention patents. He was the chief scientist of the National Climbing Program (B), the 973 Plan and the nanoscale major research project, and the academic group leader (phase three) of innovation research "surface interface nanoengineering" supported by the National Natural Science Fund. In 1997, he won the award of the outstanding young scholar of Hongkong QiuShi Science and Technology Foundation, the first prize for Science and Technology Award in Higher Institution in 2007, and the second prize of National Natural Science in 2008. In 2012, he won the prize of chemistry Chinese Chemical Society-AKZO NOBEL for and the outstanding teacher prize of Baosteel. In 2016, he won the special prize of Peking University Fang Zheng Award.

Prof. Liu is the Director of the Beijing Graphene Research Institute, the Director of the Zhongguancun Graphene Industrial Alliance, the Director of the Peking University Nanoscience and Technology Research Center, the Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, the Executive Director of China Chemical Society and the Executive Director of China Society of Micron and Nanotechnology. Pro. Liu is a fellow of The Royal Society of Chemistry and the British Society of Physics and serves as the chief editor of the Journal of physical chemistry, the associate editor of the Journal of Science and Chemistry, the editorial committee member of academic journals such as Adv. Mater., Small, Nano Res., Chem Nano Mat, Graphene Technology, NPG Asia Mater., Natural, etc.
