Dr. Sadhan C. Jana is currently Professor and Chair of Department of Polymer Engineering at The University of Akron. He received Ph.D. degree in chemical engineering from Northwestern University in 1993, worked at General Electric Corporate Research Center for four years, and joined the University of Akron in 1998. He received the prestigious National Science Foundation Faculty Early CAREER Award in 2002 and Chemcon Distinguished Speaker Award in 2005. An author of over 90 articles in peer-reviewed journals and refereed conference proceedings and 10 patent applications, Prof. Jana is a Fellow of The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) and is an associate editor of Polymer Engineering & Science. He serves as chair of the Board of Directors of Engineering Properties and Structures Division and as vice chair of New Technology Committee of SPE. His current research focus is on shape memory polymer nanocomposites, polymer nanocomposites by self-assembly approach, and aerogels.
