Prof. Kim Meow Liew
Kim Meow Liew is the Yeung Kin Man Chair Professor of Sustainable Engineering at City University of Hong Kong and the Founding Director of the Centre for Nature-Inspired Engineering. An elected Foreign Member of Academia Europaea (MAE) and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (FHKEng), he has built a distinguished career spanning multiscale and computational modeling, sustainable engineering, multifunctional materials, 3D construction printing, and advanced concrete materials—achieving transformative results with far-reaching impact across both fundamental science and applied engineering. In 2024, Professor Liew became the first Asian recipient of the prestigious Carl Zeiss–Humboldt Research Award, in recognition of his seminal work on the physical behavior of materials across multiple length scales. His advances in fracture mechanics research have yielded critical new insights into material failure and structural integrity, laying essential groundwork for designing resilient engineering systems and next-generation materials. His scholarly output—over 900 peer-reviewed articles, more than 65,000 citations, and an h-index of 127—attests to a career of sustained global influence.
