Following the great success of the previous edition held in Albufeira, Portugal, 3Bs MaterialsTech 2026 continues to be a premier international conference in the field of biobased materials, biomimetics/ bioinspired and biomaterials.

The conference brings together researchers, engineers, and innovators to explore Biobased, bioinspired & biomimetic materials. The event highlights how nature’s principles and biomimetic design can guide the development of smart, adaptive, and multifunctional materials for biomedical, technological, and industrial applications.

Attendees will discover advances in self-assembling materials, adaptive biohybrid systems, responsive interfaces, and AI-driven biomimetic design. Crucially, the conference now places a reinforced focus on the sourcing and sustainability of materials, addressing the transition to biobased materials and the principles of the circular economy alongside translation to real-world applications and responsible innovation. The conference fosters multidisciplinary collaboration across academia, industry, and policy, accelerating the creation of next-generation biomimetic technologies

🌟 EU Project Spotlight Workshops

As part of the event programme, we are pleased to present a dedicated series of EU Project Spotlight Workshops, highlighting key breakthroughs from selected EU-funded research and innovation projects.

These thematic workshops offer focused insights into project-specific technological roadmaps, showcasing cutting-edge advances across materials science, photonics, sustainability, and agri-tech.

🔍 Workshops Line-up

  • AGRO4AGRI – Fostering the advanced and sustainable use of agrochemicals for resilient agriculture
  • PHAntastic – Standardization of production and characterization methods for bio-based PHAs supporting sustainable packaging
  • ViSS – Enabling a viable, safe, and sustainable PHBV value chain for food packaging applications
  • ANIPH – Avoiding the negative impacts of plastic materials in humanitarian contexts

The workshops are designed to promote direct interaction and collaboration between EU project consortia, researchers, and industrial stakeholders. Participants will gain first-hand insight into emerging standards, methodologies, and best practices that are expected to shape future industrial developments and regulatory frameworks.

Jointly organized with Polymers 2026 and Composites 2026, the conference will feature distinguished Keynote and Invited Speakers, oral and poster presentations, and vibrant discussions on the future of biomaterials innovation.

We look forward to welcoming you to Lisbon, Portugal, in April 2026 for this exciting international gathering of the biomaterials community.
