Prof. Saisamorn Lumyong
Emeritus Professor Dr. Saisamorn Lumyong was born on 19th January 1950. She was curious about biology around her locality and her later in her career as a great microbiologist. She obtained B.Sc. in Agriculture in 1971 from Chiang Mai University and an M.Sc. in Microbiology from Kasetsart University, Thailand in 1975. She received her Ph.D. from the prestigious Hokkaido University, Japan, in 1993 through the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) RONPAKU Fellowship Program. In 1975, she obtained the position of lecturer at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at Chiang Mai University (CMU). In 1979, she was promoted to Assistant Professor and she became Associate Professor in 1982. She was promoted to a full Professor in 2006. In 2018, she became Emeritus Professor and has been very active in her research until present.
